How to duplicate an ad in Meta Ads Manager

The original 11 ad objectives in Meta Ads Manager have been simplified into 6 to better align with your business goals. All the same functionality is available through additional settings. Beginning in January 2024, you can no longer create, duplicate or import campaigns, ad sets and ads previously created with the original objectives. As soon as you transition from original to simplified objectives, be sure to pause the campaigns, ad sets and ads that use original objectives to avoid running identical campaigns in parallel. Learn more about this update to the ad objectives.

You can use duplication in Meta Ads Manager to duplicate existing campaigns, ad sets and ads to reuse previously successful campaign settings. You can duplicate multiple ads or ad sets to duplicate a single or multiple campaigns.

For example, you may have six ads running across two campaigns which are scheduled to end soon. Of those ads, three are performing well. Instead of recreating these ads, select them all and duplicate them to use in a new or existing campaign.

Before you begin

Review how ad duplication affects the following features:

  • Dynamic creative: Ads generated with dynamic creative can be duplicated. However, you can’t apply dynamic creative to any duplicate ads that were not initially generated with dynamic creative.
  • Advantage+ placements: Ads that use Advantage+ placements (previously known as automatic placements) can be duplicated. Any new placements that have become available since your original ad was created can now be available to your new duplicate ads.
  • Customized creative per placement: Ads that are duplicated can carry over existing engagement. However, if you’ve customized your ad creative for specific placements, you won’t be able to carry over your ad engagement more than once.

Note: You can edit your ads, ad sets or campaigns once they’re duplicated.
