Use iCloud Keychain on your Mac
When you turn on iCloud Keychain on your Mac, you can securely save passwords, credit card numbers, and more in iCloud, and access that information on any device that’s set up for iCloud Keychain.
What can you do with iCloud Keychain on your Mac?
First, set up iCloud Keychain on your Mac. Then, do any of the following:
Store important information: When you sign in to a website using Safari on your Mac, you can save your credentials in iCloud Keychain. You can also save credit card numbers and expiration dates when making a purchase in Safari.
iCloud Keychain also saves Wi-Fi passwords; the accounts you use in Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Messages; and more.
Information stored in iCloud Keychain stays up to date on all your devices that have iCloud Keychain turned on.
Autofill credentials and credit card information in Safari: If you have AutoFill turned on for Safari, your Mac can automatically use the information stored in iCloud Keychain to sign you in to apps or websites or fill in credit card information.
Important: Safari autofills your information for anyone who uses your Mac with your user login.
Automatically create strong passwords: When you create a new account for a website in Safari on your Mac, iCloud Keychain automatically suggests a strong password for you.
View saved accounts and passwords on your Mac
You can view the accounts and passwords you store in iCloud Keychain on your Mac. You can also manually add new accounts, edit credentials, or delete saved accounts.
To view or edit an account, do either of the following on your Mac:
Websites: In Safari, choose Safari > Preferences, then click the Passwords pane. Enter your Mac user account password or use Touch ID, then select a website.
Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Messages accounts: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Internet Accounts. Select an account on the left.
